The University of Turin (Università degli Studi di Torino) is one of Italy's oldest and most prestigious academic institutions, founded in 1404. Located in the vibrant city of Turin, it offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs across disciplines such as humanities, sciences, social sciences, law, and medicine. Renowned for its cutting-edge research, the university collaborates extensively with international institutions and industries. Its historic architecture blends seamlessly with modern facilities, creating an inspiring learning environment. The university also hosts prominent cultural events and provides students with access to the rich cultural and industrial heritage of Turin, a hub for innovation and creativity in northern Italy.
In the context of the ELMUMY project, the University of Turin (UNITO) is actively engaged in analyzing patients with MGUS/sMM and their risk of progressing to MM. UNITO contributed to defining the clinical data tables utilized for collecting information on these patients. A prospective collection of data and samples from MGUS/sMM patients has been initiated at UNITO, with plans to share these resources with other ELMUMY partners.
Additionally, UNITO will provide clinical and biological data from 170 active MM patients, fully characterized through whole-genome sequencing, whole-exome sequencing, and RNA sequencing. This dataset will serve as a benchmark for understanding the molecular characteristics of active MM and exploring differences observed in pre-symptomatic stages.
